Set Up For Disaster, or Deja Vu

Well it has happened, the New York Mets are in prime position to falter one more time in September. We all remember what happened last Septemeber with 17 games left ot go and up 7 games on the Phillies, the Mets choked. Well after tonights 6-1 loss at Shea against the Florida Marlins the Mets are now in 2nd place in the NL East and 2nd in the NL Wild Card.

The Brewers beat the Cubs 5-1, giving them the top spot in the wild card and the Phillies topped the Nationals 8-4 basically locking them in to the NL East. And the question that will be asked by all Mets fans in the morning will be how could this happen?

The Bullpen has provided the Mets with 29 loses. Thats how it happens.

The Brewers have gotten hot and with a 1-2 punch of Sheets and Sabathia, plus the power bats of Feilder and Braun they are on their way to the playoffs.

Well this is familiar territory for the Mets and the Marlins, and the Phillies for that matter. The Marlins are the ultimate Met dream spoilers. They did the exact thing they are currently in the process of doing this year, last year.

It's been reported that Mets ace, Johan Santana will start on Saturday against the pesky Florida Marlins on 3 days rest. This game could very well decided the New York Mets season. The problem here, Santana has never pitched well on 3 days rest and he is coming off a 125 pitch outing, his highest total ever. This is a set up for failure.

Good luck Metropolitans, you sure are going to need a whole lot of it.
