If You Didn't Already Know

That guy Woods....yea he's pretty good.

In the third round today at the US Open from Torrey Pines, I sat on the edge of my couch as putts just rimmed off the cup and covered my mouth as golf balls were hit so far left that finding them would be like Phil Mickelson coming back from being +9.

We all know that there are 2 types of golfers, there are guys with metal sticks, and then there is Eldrick. Woods struggled from the first hole till the latter stages of the course, but then turned it into a different gear, Tiger Mode.

I swear to you this, when Tiger went for the putt at 13, I said to myself, Self "Ok Tiger, show them why you're the best" and then he said, ok Dave watch this. All he did was drain a putt from about 50 feet, give or take a few. He then gave the double Tiger Pump, and the crowd erupted like a volcano from hell, and it was simply amazing.

And as those like the pink pants wearer Camilo Villegas (pronounced Veh-jay-gus) and leader for most of the day Rocco Mediate looked on, Tiger was on the prowl. As his knee began to hurt, and you saw the pain after every swing you kept asking yourself, when will he buckle. When will the super hero that we know as Tiger finally be tamed? Not today, as through all the anguish and suffering Woods managed to shoot a -3 for the day and putting himself in sole possession of the top spot, again.

Mediate said this about Tiger, "The stuff he does, it's unreal" "It's just the most amazing display of athletic, mental power that there is, there ever was," said Mediate, who had a three-shot lead before his meltdown. "Look at him. He hasn't played in 10 weeks. There's no surprise to me, but he hasn't played for 10 weeks! And he comes here. So I'm not surprised. I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow."

The knee started to really become a problem, at least one visible to the public after the 15th hole. At one point as he was walking up the fairway, Woods was using his driver as a cane for support. But bum knee or not, on 17 Woods chipped in a birdie from the outer hill about 15 feet from the cup. After making the shot Woods simply slumped over and laughed.

Tiger finished off the day in grand fashion, and in true Tiger Woods form. Woods is no stranger to amazing shots but he ends the day by sinking one of the best putts I have ever seen. On 18 Woods was at least 20 to 30 feet away from the cup and at an angle. Tiger hit the ball about 7-10 feet to the left for the sharp right break. As the ball hit the break I thought, nope that's breaking to sharply, but I was wrong. Tiger did it once again and Eagled the 18th hole and put himself at that comfortable position, #1.

And if anyone wants to bet against Tiger tomorrow, on fathers day you might as well take that money and head straight to your toilet. Tiger's best friend in the world was his father, he taught him everything about golf, and as he has a chance to capture another US Open title, he will have that extra motivation, hurt knee or not.

Oh I almost forgot...Woods has never lost a major when he has at least a share of the 54-hole lead, and it has been seven years since anyone beat him anywhere in the world when he had the lead to himself.

uhh..good luck everyone.
