What Is Going On With the Angels and Cubs?

Arguably the 2 best teams in both leagues coming into the playoffs are now both on the brink of elimination. Both teams are a loss away from being sweep and sent home much earlier than expected.

The Angels have been out pitched and outhit by the Boston Red Sox. Behind the youngsters and Jason Bay the Sox have cruised by the Angels with ease. In game one John Lester threw seven strong innings followed by two scoreless innings by Justin Masterson and Jonathan Papelbon. In game two the score was tied going into the ninth inning 5-5. All time single season saves leader Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez served up a 2 run homerun to J.D Drew and the Angels found themselves in an almost insurmountable hole.

The Cubs are in the same boat. Labeled as the best team in the NL, and many saying that this was finally their year. 100 years in the making this was finally the year that the Chicago Cubs and their fans would not feel misery. But that does not seem to be the case. Manny Ramirez and company seem to be on a mission and Joe Torre is poised to get back to the World Series. The Dodgers have outscored the Cubs 17-5, nothing and no one on the Cubs seem to have a fire under them hot enough to want to win.

Lets get it together guys, the two best teams getting swept? Not a good look.
